IGNORANCE
DEFINITION
Without education, knowledge or understanding concerning a subject.
MISTAKES
All our mistakes are a result of ordinary human ignorance. There is no need to take this ignorance personally - this will not assist us in learning - but in matters of socialization and self-understanding, we must take responsibility for it, and hopefully learn how to understand these important subjects.
PRIDE
Becoming attached to and defending our ignorance is the fault of "arrogance, vanity, and false pride."
Being proud and defensive concerning our ignorance will not assist us in learning and it will not assist us in our relationships with others.
No knowing does not imply stupidity or inferiority, it merely shows that we do not have a knowledge base (schema) concerning a subject.
With a touch of humility, we can open our mind to receiving education and learning.
CONDITIONING
Sometimes the attitudes, beliefs, ideas, and self-image that we are taught in childhood and adolescence can conflict with our learning-abilities. This can cause learning-difficulties if we believe that:
-
We are stupid
-
We cannot learn
-
We have low self-esteem and self-worth
-
We are not worth the bother
This, mainly subconscious, conditioning can be changed.
